What did you do before you retired?

Willie was an electronic tech for WSU and Bettye was a school nurse.


We love to travel around the United States on our own.

What would you tell a potential member about Wesley Friends?

There is a wide variety of activities to take advantage of. Go to the Lunch and Learns so you can keep up with your health and what’s new in the medical field. It’s a great way to stay active.

Why do you continue with Wesley Friends?

It’s a part of Wesley and Wesley takes good care of everybody. They took great care of my family when they were in the hospital. Wesley Friends has lots to offer for my husband and I, like travelling and socials.

What do you do outside of volunteering?

I love to travel. I have been to well over 10 places since I retired. I have traveled to the Bahamas 3 times and plan to go back every year. It’s so much fun!

What was your first impression of the social?

I really enjoyed the speaker and the fellowship that was had. When you’re retired and live alone, it’s good to go out and mingle with new people and possibly make new friends.

Why Wesley Friends?

Unlike other retirement groups around, they gave out information that was easy to find. I have fun, I’ve met some new friends and I enjoy what they do. I go to every event that I can.

What is your favorite pastime?

I like being out and about, gardening and woodworking.

What kind of music do you like?

Western music is my favorite.

What has been the best part of Wesley Friends?

We really enjoy the meals and people are always so generous. There are always new things you can learn at the Lunch & Learns. We like meeting new people and seeing them when we come to events every month. We don’t get to travel, but attending the Wesley Friends events works well for our lifestyle.
